FAQ

The basics

Is this safe? Does it use live ammunition?

No live ammunition is involved. Airena uses an electronic, non-projectile controller and computer-vision hit detection against lightweight drone targets — no live projectiles, target debris, or excessive noise.

How does hit detection work?

The controller combines onboard positioning and a computer-vision pipeline to register hits in real time, coordinated by the ground-control system for scoring and feedback.

Where can it be set up?

It is portable and needs no permanent installation — a roughly 20x20x12 ft space indoors or out. Indoor operation is FAA-exempt, so venues can launch immediately.

What about drone regulations?

Indoor operations are FAA-exempt. Outdoor operations follow FAA Part 107 using ultra-lightweight (≤250g) drones, with Airena acting as operator of record so venues carry no regulatory burden.

Is this for entertainment or training?

Both. The same platform supports location-based entertainment and skills training, with multiple game modes, scoring, and replay built in.
